It is recommended that parents or caregivers make contact with a Speech Pathologist if they have any concerns about their child’s speech, language, social skills or learning abilities. Our friendly team can give professional advice on whether your child’s difficulties are expected for their age or if an assessment is necessary. At this appointment the Speech Pathologist will obtain information about your child’s communication, from you, through observing your child at play, and by administering various assessments. This will aim to build a profile of your child’s strengths and areas of difficulty to assist our planning to optimise the child’s learning and ongoing needs. With your consent, we will also consult with other professionals that are involved with your child, including teachers, psychologists and doctors to ensure a holistic approach to intervention.
